CHURCH COUNCIL In the Church of England, the Church Council is the executive committee consisting of clergy, churchwardens, and representatives of the laity. Legally, the council is responsible for the financial affairs of the Church, including the maintenance of its assets and the promotion of the mission of the church. New additions to the Church Council are elected at the Annual Church Meeting (ACM) each spring.
